My love of cinema began at an early age. At first, it was a means of escape from an unhappy family life, but as I grew up and watched more and more films, I came to appreciate it as an art and a means of expression! Film is cathartic. More than just entertaining or educating, I believe in its highest form, cinema can be healing. Emotional release and enlightenment can follow, opening your eyes and your heart to new ideas or ways of relating. For the price of admission, people can be transported to places and experiences to which they would never otherwise have access. As I have progressed as an actor and filmmaker, I began to direct myself, shoot, edit and score my own short films, and as such I am constantly learning.
To me, film is a complete art form, as it encompasses virtually all forms of art: music, acting, photography, cinematography, painting, sculpting, etc. That is why I find it so rich and fascinating and I must do it! As a collaborative art form, there is no other that brings together so many disciplines under one proverbial umbrella. What keeps me doing it is that the practice of my art makes me a better person. I believe our society benefits from this art and participation should be encouraged.
